Today, we are thrilled to announce that we are partnering with one of the world’s leading cloud computing companies, Amazon Web Services (AWS). This partnership will allow us to continue scaling our company and offer a better user experience for all future projects. AWS is providing us with the necessary tools and resources to scale up our infrastructure and provide an excellent customer experience. We’re excited about this new opportunity, so let us tell you more about it.
What is AWS (Amazon Web Services)?
Amazon Web Services is a collection of remote computing services that together make up a suite of cloud-computing platforms, also called Amazon Web Services. These services operate from 12 geographical regions across the world. The most central and well-known of these services are Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) which offers object storage, and Amazon SimpleDB which offers database storage, computation with queries, reports & analytics.
AWS started building out their network infrastructure in 2002 by spending US$10 million on data centers around the world. Those facilities were initially used to serve the company’s internal needs but soon proved valuable to other customers, so it established an AWS subsidiary to provide real estate and technical support for these customers. The company also maintains Gigabit connections to twenty-seven sites around the world, including major connections to networks in the US, Europe, and Asia. They invested $57 million in 2011 into increasing the business capacity of their fulfillment center for AWS cloud computing services.
How will AWS (Amazon Web Services) help DePocket grow?
DePocket will use several Amazon Web Services, such as AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon SimpleDB to build their index engine. DePocket’s EC2 will provide infrastructure space for DePocket’s S3 as a remote storage option for future DePocket Servers. DePocket will also be able to use the S3 data storage service from Amazon Web Services in order to store their data on a fast network with lower prices than retail — this is crucial because all of DePockets servers would need a large storage capacity. Once building the index engine is complete, DePocket can then further use Amazon Web Services’ services for managing risk and keeping costs under control. DePocket can also use Amazon Web Services to monitor their infrastructure with advanced security, monitoring and reporting services in order to ensure the index engine is running smoothly. DePocket can then scale up (increase) or scale down (decrease) the resources for DePocket’s index engine when necessary.
DePocket is a company that provides innovative solutions for the financial industry. We have proudly outgrown our current infrastructure, so we have partnered with Amazon Web Services to scale up or down resources when necessary and ensure an excellent customer experience. DePocket will use AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon SimpleDB in order to build our index engine which powers all of DePockets services. DePocket looks forward to leveraging these advanced security tools as well as monitoring & reporting services from AWS in order to monitor how efficiently DePocket’s servers are running — this should help us better understand where cost savings could be made without sacrificing user satisfaction!
